From The Pastor’s Heart: Celebrating Joshua Sunday - The Heart and Soul of Christ Church

From The Pastor’s Heart: Celebrating Joshua Sunday—The Heart and Soul of Christ Church
November 19, 2023

What does it mean to follow Jesus? How do we authentically follow Jesus?  This Sunday we will gather at all five locations of Christ Church and commit to following Jesus through our six-fold commitment which comes right out of Acts 2: 42-47
  • Worshipping regularly -  vs. 46 “They worshiped together at the Temple each day…”
  • Learning through Life Groups - vs. 42 “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching…met in homes for the Lord’s supper…”
  • Serving in a ministry once per month - vs. 43 ”…and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders”
  • Praying—vs. 42 “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching…and to prayer.”
  • Tithing and generosity - vs. 45 “They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need…and shared their meals with great joy and generosity.”
  • Inviting five people each month to worship -  vs. 47 “all the while praising God…and each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”

Each year at Christ Church those who have joined and our active worshippers are invited to re-commit to our mission of personal spiritual growth as we seek to follow Jesus.  These spiritual disciplines and commitments empower us to become more like Christ.

Your Joshua Menu is included by using this link:  https://christnc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/173/responses/new and you can also read descriptions by going to this link for each ministry as you consider serving https://christnc.com/joshua.  We also ask that you consider filling out the Joshua menu and making a commitment to this six-fold commitment.  We also ask that you please fill out the amount you plan on committing in 2024 for your general budget giving at Christ Church.  We cannot carry out our mission without your help and generosity as children, students and adults are being reached for Christ every year.

Please join us in praying for Joshua Sunday as we each say to Jesus, “Lord, I know I can count on you…and Lord you can count on me to follow you now and in 2024.”

We look forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday at one of our five locations this weekend so we may all celebrate Joshua Sunday.

With love and deep appreciation for you,
Pastors Charles and Julie Kyker

This Sunday at our Fairgrove Campus we hope to bless 800 families in our Community with a meal kit box and a turkey! In faith Christ Church has pre ordered 800 turkeys. We currently still have 325 empty boxes  at our campuses that still need to be filled with food for our distribution this Sunday. If you did not pick up an empty box, you can simply bring your groceries in this Sunday and we will have volunteers at your campus to collect and pack your items. Please include $20 to cover the cost of the turkey. For those of you that already have your box filled we will be collecting boxes at each campus until 11:15am Sunday.
