Good News…Our 30th Birthday, Mission 20:21 Results, Joshua Celebration

We have so much to be thankful for at Christ Church. Our CC Student Ministry led our entire Sunday 5 p.m. worship service on October 23. And, just this week I learned about a seven year old who volunteers and is in our CCKids ministry felt such a burden to share her faith in Christ with a fellow classmate at school. She came home and told her daddy that the fellow student wanted to hear about Jesus and after accepting Jesus he is now happier at school. This is our purpose in Mission 20:21 as Acts 20:21 says, “I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike—the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus.” Our passion at CC is to raise funds to raise up a generation of world changers to reach people for Christ. We are thankful worship services are broadcast weekly at Catawba Correctional Center in Newton where 60 to 70 men attend each Sunday.

On October 30, Christ Church celebrated both our 30th Birthday as a church family and “Half-Time” for Mission 20:21.  We had great worship attendance at all campuses and 41 families made additional commitments of $45,810 to bring our total pledges to $1,959,781 for Mission 20:21. So far, we have received $1,434,111 towards Mission 20:21 in total giving to date. Another exciting reality is that we were able to pay additional principle of $240,000 towards our two loans to reduce the balance. Remember, our goal is to pay down 65% of our debt in the next seven years. All of this is in addition to our regular budget giving at CC. Bless you for being faithful. We are so close to meeting budget as we are $137,000 behind year to date.

Our Joshua Celebration is November 20 where all of us get to recommit to being a fully devoted follower of Christ by rolling up our sleeves and committing to worshipping, learning, serving, tithing, praying and inviting. So many of you have already filled out your Joshua Menu by going online. We also offer a “Spiritual Gifts Inventory” to help you discern your talents and gifts so you know best where to volunteer and get involved. Information for all of this is in this newsletter.

Christmas Fest is Saturday, December 10 at the Mt. View and Statesville campuses. We need volunteers at each campus to serve the thousands who will be attending this Free and Fun event for the entire family, singles, children and adults. With rides, inflatables, games, Deck the Trunks and the Hayride to Bethlehem this will be a great time for CC family to share God’s unconditional love with our communities. Our second mile offering during the month of December will go to make this missional event happen.

Life Groups are about connecting in friendship, learning about God’s Word, and cultivating a heart to serve others.  We are in need of Life Group Leaders (facilitators) and host homes for the upcoming Life Group session in January.  As you pray over your Joshua Menu, would you consider signing up to become a Life Group Leader or host home?  The Life Group Team will provide training, and resources as well as walk alongside you.   If you are interested or would like more information, sign-up when completing your Joshua Serving Form and our team will reach out to you to talk more and schedule training or reach out to me or ann.denzer.christnc@gmail.com.

CCKids Welcomes a New Children’s Pastor

My name is Ashlyn Punch. I’ve been attending Christ Church since 2002. Growing up in the CCKids ministry, it is an honor and a blessing to give back to the ministry that helped build my spiritual foundation. As a student, I began volunteering in the nursery along with my mother. I volunteered at the Mountain View Campus for two years and later volunteered at the Fairgrove Campus for two years. I have been on staff as the CCKids Campus Director at Fairgrove for over a year. My husband, Matt Punch, and I have two beautiful children; Connor (7)and Aria (4). In our free time we love to spend time as a family hiking, park dates, and enjoy fellowship with our family and friends.

God ignited a passion in me to disciple children. With the Holy Spirit’s provision, wisdom, and direction, I am honored to step into the children’s pastor position. I am so excited to see where God takes the next generation of future leaders. I can be reached at Ashlyn.punch.christnc@gmail.com and would love to hear from you all!
