What We Believe

Faith in the Holy Trinity
There is but one living and true God, everlasting, without body or parts, of infinite power, wisdom, and goodness, the maker and preserver of all things, both visible and invisible. And in unity of this Godhead there are three persons of one substance, power, and eternity—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

Jesus Christ, The Son
He is the Word of the Father, is one with the Father, took on man’s nature through a Virgin and is fully God and fully man. He suffered, was crucified, dead, and buried, to reconcile his Father to us, and to be a sacrifice, for the actual sins of humanity. Christ did truly rise again from the dead, ascended into heaven, and sits until he returns to judge all men at the last day.

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit, proceeding from the Father and the Son, is of one substance, majesty, and glory with the Father and the Son, very and eternal God.

The Holy Bible
The Holy Scriptures are inspired by God and contain all things necessary for salvation and should not be added to or taken away.

Original Sin
It is the corruption of the nature of every person, that naturally inherited by the offspring of Adam. Humanity is very far gone from original righteousness, and of its own nature inclined to evil.

Justification
We are counted righteous before God only through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, by faith, and not for our own works or because we deserve it. We are justified by grace through faith, and not by works.

Sanctification
Sanctification is that renewal of our fallen nature by the Holy Spirit, received through faith in Jesus Christ, whose blood of atonement cleanses from all sin; where we are not only delivered from the guilt of sin, but are washed from its pollution, saved from its power, and are enabled, through grace, to love God with all our hearts and to walk in his holy commandments blameless.

The Church
The visible church of Christ is a congregation of faithful men and women in which the Word of God is preached, and the Sacraments duly administered according to Christ’s ordinance.

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
The Father, the Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
True God from True God,
begotten, not made,
of one being with the Father;
through Him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation.
He came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and became truly human.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
He suffered death and was buried.
On the third day He rose again
in accordance with the scriptures;
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and His kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life,
who proceeds from the Father,
who with the Father and the Son
is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.
We acknowledge one baptism
for the forgiveness of sins.

We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen

Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
