God is not Cheap
Dec 4, 2016 • Dr Charles Kyker • Cheap Christmas Week 2
The New Testament describes Christ as “the visible image of the invisible God.” The Christ of God existed before anything else was made “and is supreme over all creation” (see Colossians 1:15). At Christmas we celebrate the coming of Christ into the world, the blessed Son promised through prophets of old. The One given the name, Jesus, was not an afterthought of God—as though God needed a quick backup plan when He saw the downward spiral of man’s sin condition. No, God chose Christ as our ransom “long before the world began” (1 Peter 1:20a). We serve a God who is not cheap but generous, and in total control of all things. God speaks and things get done! Christ our Lord is that very Word of God (the logos) made esh (John 1:1)
