From the Pastor's Heart: New Series "Faith Works - Studying James" and Vision 2:28 Updates

“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28

The wind is blowing and the Holy Spirit is moving in tremendous ways through Christ Church:

• As I write this newsletter we have 74 students and 52 adults attending FUSION CAMP this weekend. Let’s continue to pray for all of the students to take definitive steps closer to Christ and many to make decisions for Christ.
• On September 30, ten months into Vision 2:28, we hit the first million dollars in our five-million-dollar goal. Over the next 26 months we pray for radical generosity, changed lives with professions of faith and baptisms and planting seven more churches as we celebrate the three we planted in July with 170 baptisms in Ghana.
• CCYA, our young adult & college ministry, had a tremendous launch with 50 folks attending. Starting Wednesday, October 14, CCYA will meet in Mission Brew at Mt. View Campus.
• Life Groups and Classes have increased in number and attendance. Sign up today as we are launching a new series next Sunday.
• Attendance has grown with our “Hot Topics Series” as our pastors have sought to share Biblical Truth in Love. You can view the series online.
• New Series “Faith Works” starts next Sunday October 18 studying the Book of James.
• Celebrate Recovery meets three days each week: Monday at Northside, Thursday at Statesville, and Friday at the Mt. View Campus to help all of us with hurts, habits, and hang-ups. So many issues have surfaced during our Hot Topics Series and our CR ministry helps us deal biblically and spiritually with them through the 12 Steps and 8 Principles.

Paving the Mt. View Parking Lot Fund October 11 to December 31, 2026
Lastly, Christ Church Mt. View needs to pave our current parking lot. The cost is $455,000 and the Leadership Team has approved the project out of faith. We currently have $355,000 on hand and need to raise another $100,000. With winter coming, and last winter was very harsh, our Leadership Team believes we need to be proactive paving before winter and the longer we wait to pave the more cost will rise and the paving deteriorates.

Please know we’ve considered the reality that we are also in a Vision 2:28 Campaign. So the Leadership Team asks that we each be faithful with our tithes and offerings to the general budget, continue to give to Vision 2:28, and if you are able give an additional offering to the parking lot fund between now and December 31, 2026. However, this is like our family budgets when raising kids. The parent budgets for housing, car payment and groceries. But then the dentist tells us that our child needs braces and if she doesn’t get them her teeth will be crooked. Our parking lot needs paved and so we ask that you pray and give as you are able.

When first time guests drive up they can see if a church cares and will help them care for their souls and their children.  Let’s pray God continues to “Pour out His Holy Spirit on All People”.

Your servant in Christ,
Pastor Charles

Join the Christ Church Christmas Parade Float Design Team!
We are looking for a creative, hands-on volunteer team to design and build a float for the Hickory and Statesville Christmas parades, and this is an opportunity for all campuses to serve together! Whether you’re a designer, builder, crafter, organizer, or simply excited to lend a hand, there’s a place for you on the team. This is a fun opportunity to share the joy of Christmas, work together across campuses, and represent Christ Church in our community. Our first planning meeting will be October 12 at 8p.m. on Google Meet. Come share your ideas and help us get started! Contact Kelly Sipe at ksipe@christnc.com or 828-291-2903 to get the link to meet

A New Rhythm for CCStudents
Fusion Weekend is here! As our students spend a weekend focused on Jesus, relationships, and growing in their faith, we’re praying God moves powerfully in their lives.

But Fusion isn’t the finish line; it’s a starting point. Beginning this October, CCStudents is launching a new weekly rhythm designed to help students continue growing, building relationships, and taking their next steps with Jesus.

Wednesday Nights | Beginning October 14
Our weekly student gathering is moving from Sunday evenings to Wednesdays, 6:00–8:30 PM. Students from Mt. View, Northside, Lincolnton, and Fairgrove will gather at the Mt. View Campus, while Statesville students will gather at the Statesville Campus. Transportation will be provided each Wednesday for Northside students to and from Mt. View.

Wednesday nights will be an incredible night for our students to come together, have fun, worship, hear biblical teaching, build meaningful relationships, and encounter Jesus. We want these nights to be a place where students can belong and grow, and where they feel comfortable inviting friends who may not yet be connected to church. Dinner will be served from 6:00 to 6:30 PM.

At Mt. View, the gym will open at 4:30 PM for 6th–12th graders who want to come early, just hang out, play some pickleball, volleyball, or shoot some hoops and try to beat Pastor Matt in basketball.

Life Revealed | Beginning October 18
For nine weeks, we’re launching Life Revealed, a Sunday morning discipleship class for students in 6th–12th grade at every campus. Students will journey through the books of Luke and Acts, discovering what it means to know Jesus, follow Him, and live out their faith.

Life Revealed is designed to complement, not replace, Sunday morning worship. We still want students to attend worship at 9:50 AM before participating in the class. The class will meet at 11:15 AM at every campus. Together, these two environments give students multiple opportunities to grow: Wednesday nights bring our students together for a powerful, engaging night centered on Jesus, while Life Revealed creates space to go deeper into God’s Word and discipleship.

And there’s a place for you! We’re building teams of adults who want to invest in the next generation. From driving vans and serving meals (do you have any idea how much these teens love to eat?) to helping with open gym, Sunday morning class facilitators, social media team, and more, there are many ways to serve. Reach out to Brenna Barnette @ bbarnette@christnc.com to join a serve team.

As Fusion begins, would you pray with us? Pray for God to move in the lives of our students, for commitments made at Fusion to take root, and for the leaders who will walk alongside them.

Fusion may be one weekend, but following Jesus is a lifetime. We can’t wait to see what God does next!

CC Kids Outreach: The Grove’s Old-Fashioned Lemonade Stand!
Join us on Saturday, October 17 from 10 AM – 12 PM as CC Kids hosts a free drive-thru lemonade stand right out front of Fairgrove! This is a fun, hands-on opportunity for our kids to serve and connect passing drivers to Christ Church Fairgrove. We need kids and parents to help wave signs, pour lemonade, and pass out cups with connection cards!

To sign-up to volunteer, contact Amanda White at awhite@christnc.com

You're invited to step into Children's Ministry and see what it is all about on Sunday, November 1st & 8th during regular CCKids service hours. Come out and observe a CCKids classroom while enjoying your favorite dirty soda!

"One Day with God" at Fairgrove
On Saturday, November 21, 2026, Christ Church Fairgrove is partnering with Forgiven Ministry to host a "One Day with God" camp for incarcerated fathers at Catawba Correctional Center and their children. Running from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the event offers dads and kids dedicated time for games, crafts, and relationship restoration.

Christ Church will support visiting family members throughout the day by serving breakfast and lunch. The church is actively looking for volunteers to assist families at the church, serve inside Catawba Correctional Center to witness the mighty movement of the Holy Spirit, and invite local Life Groups to help prepare and serve meals.

To volunteer or sign up your Life Group, contact Pastor Walter Cantwell at wcantwell@christnc.com
