From the Pastor’s Heart: Two Principles for a Meaningful Life, Marriage and Family

“We know, dear brothers and sisters, that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own people.  For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true. And you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you.” I Thessalonians 1:4-5

Encouragement, we all need it.  The word literally means “to give courage”.  These brief words from Paul give us courage, “that God loves you and has chosen you to be his people”, yet there is also great instruction for our spiritual and emotional growth as followers of Jesus, “As you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you.”  Paul underscores what Jesus said in John 13:35,  “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

These two powerful truths allow us to live a more meaningful lives: 1) We are God’s own people and 2) we show our love for others by serving them.  This is why our Joshua Celebration at Christ Church is so meaningful for all of us who have joined Christ Church.  Each year we get to say with ONE VOICE, “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

There is nothing more powerful, nothing more encouraging to a broken world than God’s people rolling up their sleeves and unleashing acts of unlimited compassion upon our communities.

  • Click here to find a Joshua Menu for you to personally pray about where you will begin or continue to serve God in the months ahead and in 2020.
  • In addition, there is an important place for you to enter your financial commitment to Christ Church in 2020. I personally ask that you “Take a Step UP” in your giving of 2 to 4% monthly or begin trusting God by tithing.
  • We will turn in our menus on Joshua Weekend, October 19 and 20.
  • Every worshipper and person who has joined Christ Church should commit to regularly worshipping, serving in at least one ministry, and learning through life groups, praying for CC, tithing—stepping up in our giving, and inviting at least five persons to worship each month.

This weekend we will continue to share Nehemiah’s life changing principles of prayer in “Prayer on the Run”.  Invite a friend to join you as we learn the steps to “Transformational Prayer”.

Julie and I want to express our love and deep appreciation for you and your family. Let us lift each other in prayer so others will see the light of Christ alive in us,  Pastor Charles

At Christ Church our life groups study the sermon topic from the week before and that’s why it is still easy to join and connect with a group.  When you attend a group for the first time you will be up to date  with the study and have the same notes everyone else in the group does. So if you would like to join a group please let us know.

We will be recognizing the new groups for fall season of 2019 in the upcoming weeks. This week we would like to celebrate a new women’s group that meets on Monday’s, 8:30am at Sheetz, McDonald Parkway, led by Mary Grace Kyker.  Mary Grace saw a need for a morning group, for women with school aged children, to meet together, share a cup of coffee and honest conversation with Jesus in the center.  Mary Grace said a women joined their closing group prayer while eating breakfast!  Being out in the community allows others to see a life group in action.   For this and other life groups listed, visit

Who needs to fill out a Joshua menu? The answer is EVERYONE!  Yes, everyone, regular attendees, Devoted Followers and staff. We need to verify that your information is correct and as complete as possible in the system. You are important to Christ Church and the kingdom of God! Our pastors have been leading us and presenting lessons the past few weeks and will continue to until our Joshua weekend  on October 19 and 20. Please pray over your Joshua menu to see where God is leading you to serve, what He lays on your heart to give back through tithing or working towards tithing, praying, joining a Life Group or becoming a Devoted Follower if you haven’t taken that step. If you sign up to serve, you will receive a call to thank you for your commitment. If you are changing your serving role or are a first- time servant, you will be contacted by that specific Ministry Team to set up a date to shadow and later to work in that specific area. Please pray about the opportunities that God has given you by the abilities that He has blessed you with to be able to lead others to Christ. Please join as we claim in one voice ” As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”
